Storage networking world Europe – day 1

I’m at Frankfurt attending SNW Europe: great event, well organized a full of informations directly from vendors and SNIA (vendors in a more institutional form).
The sessions are well made and content is very good, I would like only to point out on the quality of the slides design: I could suggest SNIA to buy a copy of “presentation zen” book for all the next year presenters.

From the exposition area I can report the following:

The key message here is:”enter to win an iPad”!

IBM is very glad to show its shiny new V7000… and XIV was moved around the corner!
Isilon is one of the most visited booths, but I don’t know if the interest is for the (great) product or for the next acquisition target of the big guys!
NetApp: nothing to show at the booth but two nice girls trying to catch you in and get your credentials (with good results indeed!)
HDS: they have one new (switched off) VSP and they proudly show their (finally usable) management software. The nicest gift of the show is here (a small Lego car kit).
Pillar: A lot of people all around but all with the Pillar’s badge.
FalconStor: a quadcopter drone to win!
CommVault, they have a great partnership with Dell: they are the only booth to show the Dell streak as a potential prize.
Dell: the booth is big but I haven’t understand what they have to say… I will be more lucky tomorrow, for sure.
HP: a lot of stuff (a p9500 too). Nothing to add.
3Par (now HP): crowded booth, nice people, their management software is a good copy of the Compellent one… They have done a good job here, 😉
Fusion-io, a great product. They are going to revolution the storage world in few years (or they are thinking something like this)

Many other booths to visit, I hope to have more time today.

Compellent… Yes, where is Compellent?

Looking forward for the second day sessions and some meetings.
